Co Washing Natural Hair!

Breanna Rutter

Bella has been practicing on a curly textured mannequin head and she wants to know what's the best way to co wash curly thick hair for moisture.

Hair Tip #1 Detangle your Hair with Water and Conditioner to Prevent Hair Loss.

Use a quality rinse conditioner on wet hair to aid you with detangling and to avoid product buildup in the future. Refer to my book, The Black Hair Manual if you need help finding your best hair care products.

Hair Tip #2 Detangle Your Hair with a Wide Tooth Comb or Finger Detangle

Fingers are gentler on knots than a wide tooth comb but a comb also speeds up the detangling process. Be gentle and only comb when hair is slippery with water and conditioner.

Start detangling at the ends and then work your way up towards the roots.

Hair Tip #3 Work in Manageable Sections To Avoid Tangles& Breakage

Section your hair in about 6 to 8 sections to allow you to detangle with ease especially with thick or curly and coily hair. Use duck bill clips or gator clips to keep your hair sectioned. Butterfly clips work well with sectioning also.
